Kara Smith

A career in the medical field was what I always wanted. I started looking for a medical assisting school with a good reputation and a fast track to graduation. I visited King’s College and was so impressed with everyone that I met. They were all so nice and very helpful. I really got the sense that they want you to succeed and you are definitely not a number.

The King’s College gives you a lot of hands-on time. I am a hands-on learner, so I really liked that I got to practice many of the clinical procedures by doing it and not just hearing about it. The classrooms are even set up like a medical lab with the same kinds of equipment as a real medical office. I learned lots of skills like phlebotomy, blood analysis, urinalysis, and even performing EKGs. During my externship, I was able to practice those skills.

The King’s College job placement department really took the time to get to know me and what type of job I would want. It was a huge help that we all had the opportunity to meet with them to practice interviewing skills. They also helped set up interviews for me and I was hired 2 weeks before I even graduated! All of the hands-on clinical practice paid off as well. During my interviews, they asked me if I could operate an EKG machine. Because of the King’s College program, I could answer a confident yes!

I look back on my time at King’s College and I realize how quickly it went. I had so much fun and I am so glad that I went to King’s College.
